Harkaway Homes commenced business on a pool table at home in Harkaway in 1986 driven by what is a now proven, game changing idea in house design.
Armed with a trusty Roneo machine, we produced fliers for weekend distribution under car windscreen wipers in shopping centres. On running an advert using a house drawing, in the old "Sunday Observer", the phone rang off the hook with like minded people (we now lovingly call "Harka-trekkies"!). Off we went - why - because nobody had ever offered anything that looked so good before!
Growing pains put us through five moves as we progressed from Harkaway to an office in Ferntree Gully to a Factory/Office again in the Gully to an Office/Display home in Heathmont to our now Display Centre in Officer.
In all, over 1400 "Harkaways" have been built since inception leading to the fact that myself and all our dedicated Harkaway Staff can truly say we have made a lot of people very happy and a fair few a lot more wealthy.
